This is sort of off topic but I found it interesting so I wanted to write about it. I saw a news story on CNN the other day where a mother was cited by a highway patrol officer for not having her child properly restrained in a car seat. The mother buckled the kid up and went on her way down the highway. Shortly there after they got into a serious accident with a truck. The mother was injured but survived. The child escaped with only minor scrapes and bruises. The newscasters were singing the praises of the police officer because if he hadn’t pulled them over the child probably wouldn’t have survived the crash. That got me thinking. If the cop hadn’t pulled them over they probably wouldn’t have been at that same spot on the highway at the time the accident. So the way I see it the cop didn’t save the child, he caused the pain and suffering of the mother due to her injuries. I guess CNN figured that story wouldn’t have been as well received as the one that they ran. Unfortunately I couldn’t find any links to the story in question.
